Status quo:
Businesses and craftsmen need numerous pieces of equipment, machines and accessories for their operations. This professional equipment is intensively used for many hours everyday, and various employees use the tools at different places. Equipment and machines are exchanged with each other or loaned out. The plant’s management is not kept informed about tools and accessories.

Expensive consequences:
Plant inventory often amounts to several hundred thousand Euros. Enterprises suffer considerable losses due to improper operation, negligence and theft. In just one year alone it is possible for damages to amount to several hundred Euros per employee. This amount adds up to a genuine liability. It is accompanied by expensive repairs and costly spare parts purchases.

Writing lists:
Up to now, tools have often been managed by means of simple tables or by inefficient computer programs. The weak point: the use of tools on the spot cannot be transparently documented by such methods, so their record is untraceable. In principle, issuance lists lag hopelessly behind everyday mobile working life. Toolboxes and hundreds of individual parts are rarely recorded at all.   

The human factor:
A lot of employees feel no responsibility for their equipment due to a lack of time or frequently changing users. The consequence: damages and losses are put up with and noticed too late. Repairs and the purchase of spare parts are needlessly put off. The upshot: necessary machines are no longer available. Correct and timely performance of services for the customer threatens to break down.

The legal factor:
Regardless of whether a floor polisher or drill is involved, the safety of power tools has to be checked at regular intervals. A complete record of such checks for employers’ liability insurance associations costs companies time and money. Even so, test and calibration records, delivery notes, invoices and warranty documents are usually dealt with by hand today. There is a constant risk of incomplete information and records as well as missed deadlines.
